One may be surprised to learn that, in addition to the traditional four attributes of the Church – that it is one, holy, catholic, and apostolic – a further attribute was considered to be foundational and was introduced into the Creed – the communion of saints. I would like to demonstrate how this additional attribute further clarified and concretized the four others, how it sets the Catholic Church apart from all others.
